It’s already getting cooler out here in Canada but not so cold that I can’t get away with wearing a crop top still. Instead of pairing my crop tops with denim cutoffs, I like to pair crop tops in the fall with longer pants and throwing on a leather jacket. I was inspired by this top (similar) from Princess Polly and how Allegra Shaw styled it here with long pants and I just KNEW I had to have the tie style crop top in my wardrobe! It’s an easy dress up dress down style that is on trend and I can’t wait to wear it some more with layering some cute bralettes underneath. Read on to make your own!

What you’ll need:
- Light striped fabric
- Sewing machine
- Matching thread

Steps:
- Draft a pattern with the front pieces extended on a diagonal point (a pair and a spare has a similar tutorial with how to do this!), I drafted my sleeves separately for a better fit, but feel free to do them attached for less work
- Sew the shoulder seams and sides together
- Pin and sew the sleeves to the main body
- Hem all raw edges, I used a serger to help with this process
- Tack and iron down the cuffed sleeves (not shown above – this was a post step because I found that the original sleeves sat a bit long on my arms)
As always, if you happen to recreate these please share and use the hashtag #DECONSTRUT so I can see all your creations! Happy DIY-ing!

Thank you!
What a lovely top!
Do you post your patterns anywhere? This is lovely and I can’t wait to try it out!
I usually do have patterns linked to most DIYs but unfortunately not one of my own for this one. There is a hyperlink in the steps directing you to a site that has a pattern you can follow. Hope that helps!
