Trending | Lend Me an Ear

It seems like a typical thing to have ones ears pierced but until recently I was that one odd girl who had virgin earlobes. Granted I did recall having arguments with my mother in the past to get my ear pierced; as I got older, I just kind of forgot about earrings in general, it just wasn’t part of my everyday routine.

Now I know what I’ve been missing out on! Small little accents to draw attention to your face; a little extra sparkle; a whole new accessory to covet and collect! I’m intrigued by the new styles of earrings that are popping up around in the fashion world. No longer is just the earlobe highlighted but the back of the ear with the emergence of ear jackets and the crescent of the ear with ear cuffs. So many pretty ear accessories, no longer can you just classify them all as earrings. Here are some ear trends I can’t get enough of:

Ear Jackets: Whoever started this trend….I love you. its a super easy way to spice up plain old studs with a special back piece. Some favourites here, here and here

Ear cuffs: Edgy. Hot. Unique. I remember when this trend first emerged and was instantly trying to DIY versions with my friends. (potential tutorial if anyone wants it?). I currently own this one, loving this, and this.

Asymmetric Earrings: Mixing it up. Matching pairs are too typical, make a statement with different earrings. Plus symmetry is soooooooo last season. Can’t wait to get my hands on these, this and this.

Ear Crawlers: Newest accessory for this season, kind of a hybrid of an ear cuff and an ear jacket. Super cute ones to inspire your inner shopaholic here, here andΒ here.

STYLE | TRIANGL

Triangl, I’m super in love.

I first discovered Triangl on a bored day scrolling through my Instagram Β feed and after that I saw it popping up everywhere! The distinctive black outlined bikinis were appearing and slowly taking over my social media feeds and good for Triangl! They’ve done a tremendous job marketing their products and I can’t get over the perfect blend of cute, sporty and practicality. Why hasn’t someone thought of making swimsuits out of neoprene before? My only familiarity with neoprene was through my experiences of wetsuits…and lets just say those neoprene days were less than glamorous. Regardless, I think it’s an interesting change for a bikini to be created from a performance material such as neoprene and are loving the results coming from Triangl! Super minimalistic but eye-catching with the bold contrast colours.
I did a little research on Triangl Swimwear reviews and they seem to be small boob friendly (YAY) and good quality (which is a must!). Nothing is less flattering than a nip-slip or the buns hanging out. Absolute worst bikini tragedy has got to be that moment where you have your best Halle Berry impression, coming out of the water as a bad ass sexy Bond Girl, anddddddd you have the droopy bikini bottom. ABSOLUTE WORST! Fitted neoprene bottoms seem like a perfect way to work around that problem. And don’t try to deny it, everyone’s had that unfortunate experience, you just aren’t the one looking at your backside my friend.
Do I see this Australian brand being just a passing trend? NOT a chance! I hope its here to stay for a long time! Summer forever <3
I would love to get my hands on a set from Triangl, but am currently having some trouble deciding which one. Kind of in love with all of them but definitely have narrowed it down to Coco Moonbeams, Tilly Sunburst and Penny Wanderlust.
Which style is your favourite? Leave it in the comments below!

Kick Off Your Shoes

If you haven’t seen the Christian Louboutin Exhibit at the Design Exchange, I would highly recommend it, especially if you are a shoe fanatic like myself. I personally wouldn’t wear the majority of the shoes in the exhibit but their artistic nature is extremely compelling to analyze. Not only is Christian Louboutin a shoemaker, but he’s also a story teller. When I look at the shoes he designs, I feel as if they tell a story and you imagine a certain person strutting around in red soles.
The exhibit runs until September 15th. General admission tickets can be purchased online or on site.
By the way, I’ve been testing out my new 45mm f1.8 lens, how do you guys like the images? (More after the break >>>)

Festival Ready with Isabel Marant

Summer must be a music fanatics favorite season. Music festivals and concerts left, right and center, one has got to pick the perfect summer festival outfit. Having just been to an outdoor concert the other day, I needed the perfect festival outfit. Who better to look at for inspiration other than Isabel Marant? A lot of easy DIY projects for a unique concert outfit can be inspired from her RTW SS13 line. Loving the boho-western vibe which pairs beautifully with the festive air of summer fun!

Just in case you were wondering, I saw FUN. And they were SPECTACULAR!

Shit Bloggers Wear

Have you been on the site Shit Bloggers Wear? It’s spot on, witty and pretty at the same time. The illustrations are fabulous and though it is poking fun of the trend following phenomenon across the fashion blog-o-sphere, I can’t help but want to join in and purchase the items that every blogger out there seems to own. For example, how many times have we seen the Zara skort? Or the Rockstud heels? It’s amazing how quickly an item or clothing piece can become a must haveΒ after appearing on one blogger. I’m guilty of having tried on the Zara skort, sadly it didn’t fit and in a way I want to be part of the “Shit Bloggers Wear” club, weird, I know. I think it’s the appeal of being able to own that “one” item that makes you feel like a “fashion blogger”.
Do you or would you own any of these pieces?

Arm party; arm candy; arm swag. However and whatever you call it, it’s back for the summer once again. I’m talking about expertly stacked bracelets, there’s actually a methodology behind it! But for me its more or less trail and error and the bigger the bracelet bank, the better. Don’t you worry I’ve got you covered with some new arm swag DIYs to come. In the mean time you can drool alongside with me over these lovely pictures of arm swaggery.

My Wardrobe Basics

…Is not this! As much as glitter and sequins are appealing, to me it doesn’t pair up with everything. Read on for my basic basics!
Basically, basics should make up the base of your closet. (See what I did there?)
Everyone always has those wow pieces but when they get home there’s that moment of “What do I wear with it?”. Personally I ask myself that question all the time and then realize I should really buy some basics but it seems like a waste to spend $25 on a plain white tee instead of spending $25 on crazy printed pants. That was before I discovered how great the plain white tee is! I now have a collection of four white tees of different cuts that go with EVERYTHING!

Scary Fabulous!

It’s been non stop Halloween celebrations since last Friday, and it is AWESOME! The image above is from a party over the weekend with my fabulously scary friends: Tiger (Alex), Repo the Genetic Nurse (Tricia), Queen of Hearts (moi!) and GoGo (Kim). Well aren’t we a fearsome bunch? πŸ˜›

Still need a last minute costume? Here are some of the most creative costumes I’ve encountered recently:

  • Instagram: Grab a picture frame and add in the Instagram dashboard and hashtags with printed paper and bristol board. You’re bound to have people borrowing your “costume” all night for cute photos. (If you follow me on Instagram you can the original Instagram costume by none other than MrGundy)
  • 50 Shades of Grey: Get a pair of hand cuffs, grey t-shirt, pants and grey paint strip samples and staple them to yourself!
  • Bambi: Get some twigs and place them behind your ears, wear black and apply brown smokey eyes, white dots on your cheeks, fake fluttery paper lashes and colour in the tip of your nose black. You’ll be the cutest Disney character ever!

I hope everyone gets a lot of treats and Happy Halloween!
