I found this cute gradient (or gradiant as the french would say) nail art tutorial here and thought I would give it a try. It turned out pretty well! I wanted to let go of my dark polishes and paint some nice pastel colours for spring. Can’t wait to break out the coral, but baby steps first.
What I used:
I’ve had these Revlon products for a while now from their Revlon Selects promo and after finally using them all, I have to say that I like the majority of them.
Eyeshadow PhotoReady palette in Metropolitan: love the neutral tones, the dark brown may look shimmery but it actually applies quite matte which I like. I originally thought that the primer in the pallette would be creamy kind of like my UD eyeshadow primer but its more of shimmery wash of colour to even out the skin tone, so I was slightly dissapointed by that but I loved all the colours. The only thing that was annoying was the glittery topcoat, because the primer wasnt sticky/creamy it had nothing to stick to and had a lot of fallout; but when paired with my UD primer it looked great.
Nail Expressionist nail art duo: love the dual ended thing going for it. I’m a HUGE fan of nail art and I love the thin brush applicator with the gold. I wish both the blue and gold were more pigmented so I didnt have to apply multiple coats.
Nail polish moon candy duo: The flaky top coat is okay, I have others from china glaze and essie which I prefer because the flakes are more evenly distrabuted and smaller. But this one does pair well with the matching polish. Looks great on top of black as well.
Diamond Nail file: LOVE IT! I’ve been meaning to get a new nail file for a while, and this worked great. Love the silver glitter (I like shiny sparkly things, so sue me :P)
Lipstick ColourStay Ultimate Suede: Love the dark colour, I’m not one to wear lipstick a lot so I use this more as a stain and apply is by dabbing the colour onto my lips for a light sheer application. I’ve been keeping this in my purse and grabbing for it a lot! It stays REALLY well as a stain, I don’t know about it being actual lipstick…I’ll have to test it out. I find that it does dry my lips a bit, but applying balm over top doesn’t smudge it and will keep your lips moisturized so it isn’t really a problem for me.
Overall: Products are pretty good, highlight of the package for me would be the introduction of the nail expressionist dual ends, I love that nail art is becoming more main stream! I’d most likely repurchase them in all the different colours and the lipstick. The palette, I may try in a different colour but I would prefer more matte colours.

You may have seen sequin sweaters floating about the internet, and I bet you that the majority of the ones you’ve favourited, pinned, saved and hoarded are probably by non other than Markus Lupfer. I am IN LOVE with his sequin sweaters, super chic and comfortable which is perfect for any lazy day. I love it when its comfortable to be in fashion, screw the whole pain for beauty or what ever the saying is, I love my no fuss comfortable clothes! Granted, I poked myself an insane number of times with the needle while making this sweater….so I guess that does fall under the pain for beauty and fashion category. Anyways, onwards with the tutorial! It’s quite time consuming, but the result is nothing if spectacular!
Among all the holiday madness of Christmas shopping I saw these window displays at the Bay downtown Toronto. They were beautifully handcrafted puppets with seasons from a Christmas Tale. It reminded me of my childhood when we could watch the Nutcracker and read Christmas Stories 🙂 I know Christmas has passed, but I couldn’t resist sharing these photos!
|DIY Gold Flake Nail Polish|
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…..
The holidays are just around the corner and a lot of us are probably way behind on our holiday gift shopping (or maybe it’s just me?) Malls are crowded, parking lots are a nightmare, and signs of sales keep on distracting us. If you’re looking for a cute stocking stuffer, why not try nail polish? Even better, real GOLD flake nail polish! It looks AMAZING over dark jewel tones that are popular this fall/winter season.
In anticipation for my final presentation, I painted my nails to match my project. Blue and silver just like my model. I wanted to do something interesting with some vinyl strips I had leftover from my project and cross decals seemed like a good idea. I love how my nails turned out and it’s a fun and easy way to get cute nail art! (Much better than simple strips and mess free!)
Here’s a mini haul post as promised here from Terra20. Walking into the store I made a bee-line for the LARGE cosmetics section and tried just about everything in sight. Terra20 carries the largest eco friendly cosmetics section I’ve ever seen in any store and it was a lot of fun playing with the tester products. Wandering into the rest of the store, they had some cool eco-friendly clothing and accessories.

Daniel Thompson Brush Set: I was in dire need of a new blush brush, my old one was literally on its last leg, it looks pretty sad. So in lieu of getting a new brush, which was $60, why not spend an extra but and get the full set? They’re unbelievably soft! Super dense, antibacterial and should last me, well, forever!
Blush: Super pigminted, and give my cheeks and nice natural looking flush. I may just have to pick another one up! I’m usually an eyeshadow person, but lately I’ve been looking at my blush collection (which consists of 2) and decided it was lacking and needed some new friends.
Batucada Necklace: It may not look like much in the packaging, but on, it looks like one hell of an awesome tattoo. Made in Paris, France; the designers created it out of recycled rubber like car tires. Can’t wait to wear this with a v-neck top!
Daniel Thompson Skincare Set and Eco Brush tools are for other people, I won’t tell you who, in case they read this and realize that it’s for them!
