Popular in the spring, but something I think will still carry onto the fall, are beaded hair clip accessories. We saw an uptake in beaded bags and now beaded hair clips and barrettes are seen everywhere on the runway and on the fashion influencers of Instagram. Granted you could buy these types of hair clips in a lot of places now; at the beginning of spring, I could only find them from China vendors and being the impatient person that I am, I decided to create them myself! I started DIY-ing when I was younger making beaded figurines so the concept behind the bead patterns was easy to create. Creating them yourself is also super cheap so if you want to save some money I highly recommend following these patterns. I didn’t spend any money in creating any of these clips as I reused only hair accessories and beads from previous projects.
Despite creating three different versions, the ones I wear the most are the most simple one-rowed hair clips in a set of two. I love that it’s a simple addition that can make you look more put together and because they are simple, they go with everything. If you are looking at this tutorial and feel a bit intimidated, I highly recommend trying out the easy one-row beaded hair clip! It takes less than 15mins and you will be surprised how straight forward it is to make something no one else will have.

Carrying the pearl embellished trend into the fall, this is a super cute DIY addition to the jewelry collection! I love ear jackets and earring extenders, so I thought it would be a fun way to incorporate the pearl trend in a similar fashion. I love the dramatic drop with the chain, and because its not permanently attached to any earring stud post or backing you can definitely wear these interchangeably with a lot of earrings your already own! I paired mine with one of my favourite earrings at the moment, which are my 360 Earrings in sterling silver from Mejuri.
If you don’t know about Mejuri, I’m here to put them on your radar. Based out of Toronto, this company aims to provide you with unique, hand crafted pieces of fine jewelry without the fine jewelry price. Everything is minimalistic and everyday wearable, which makes you want to keep it on forever. Its my type of jewelry for sure, ask any of my friends; anything fuss free, high quality and has a “goes with everything” vibe is right up my alley. I’m the type of person to not change her earrings for weeks at a time, and a consistent ring party bearer so it’s only fitting that I would be drawn to the gorgeous pieces created by Mejuri. They come out with new pieces weekly and I have to say, everything is on my wishlist (currently eyeing this)! So if you’re in the market for some quality gold earrings or sterling silver studs to go along with your pearl drop extenders, be sure to check them out! (Here’s a code for $20 credit if you’re interested!)
Pearl embellishments seem to be everywhere this year, playing off of geometric shapes and minimalistic style. They influtrated blogger closets and must-have lists with the Miu Miu and the Zara pearl slides, and show no signs of stopping as pearl embellished jeans and denim jackets are also quite popular this season. Wanting to join in on this trend, I decided to recreate the Zara slides as the original ones from Zara did not fit me and were quite pricey for something that screamed DIY. As always if there’s a way to make it for cheap and personalize it to be unique to me, I’m all over it. Read on to see how you can recreate these pearl slides to rock for the rest of summer!
Seeing all the new spring colours in stores has me begging for summer to come ASAP! I’ve been craving the sunshine and 20+ degree weather, but sadly winter is here to stay for another five weeks (at least). With the upcoming spring trends I’ve noticed a surge of interest in pearls. Usually when I see pearls it just reminds me of my grandma’s pearls, not really my style. But the modern take by Sophie Bille Brahe has me craving for some pearl and gold accessories. Definitely in love with the pearl bar earrings, if only my ears were pierced….sigh.
