NAILS | DIORAMA

This is a nail art design inspired by Dior’s iconic Diorama bag. Its simplistic linear geo pattern is mesmerizing and after seeing it on Janice Joostemaa’s nails, I knew I had to recreate it myself! Feminine yet with a bit of edge thanks to those metallic lines, I think this will be a mani I’ll be rocking a lot this spring in different colour combos. Can you imagine this with a rosegold base and white lines? Mmmm gorgeous!

Read on if you’d like to know how I created this iconic pattern on my nails!

Polishes used are Essie’s Gel Coutour Top Coat and Fairy Tailor, and Butter London’s Bobby Dazzler.

NAILS | HALCYON POLISH REVIEW + MINI TUTORIAL

When I think holiday season I think glitter and sparkles galore. It’s the only time of the year where a little extra glitz won’t seem ostentatiously over the top. This polish from Cirque is holiday goals all in one bottle. Metallic, sparkly, rosegold and a dream to apply and wear. Halcyon was launched last year as part of their holiday collection and was reintroduced this year so be sure to pick up a bottle as it is limited edition! One swipe yields a full coverage rose-gold dream, two coats for that little extra sparkle topped with a glossy top coat is glitter heaven. The polish yields rose-gold and hints of silver peaking through within it giving it that multi gleaming glow. (Not to mention the glitter is actual silver!)To achieve the ombre nails above you’ll need two coats of a sheer base colour. Allow that to dry then take a sponge eyeshadow applicator and brush a little bit of Halcyon. Dab the applicator on the tip of the nail, moving down towards the base of nail as less polish is being distributed. Repeat until ombre effect is achieved. Finish it off with a glossy top coat!

NAILS | A MERMAIDS DREAM

Seafoam goodness.

A little splurge on my part over the weekend, combined with some shopping buddy pressure and I am the proud new owner of Mermaid’s Dream by Deborah Lippmann. I bet you anything that my description will not do it justice but here I go. Seafoam goodness, that’s basically how I would describe it in two words. A lovely turquoise, minty green/blue with a metallic sheen with cerulean blue glitter suspended between the layers, with a hint of gold and iridescent purple shimmer. Dries to a smooth, not too bumpy texture that has me running my fingers over my nails repeatedly like a crazy person. It’s a gorgeous polish all around.

This shade came out last year and since then Deborah Lippmann has released other shades. Definitely looking into getting Do the Mermaid which is a lilac purple, which has the same formulation as Mermaid’s Dream. I’m not too crazy over the other shades in the collection, may be because I have similar shades; whereas the sea foam mint turquoise colour and lavender are missing from my current collection.

The funny thing is that when I was little I always wanted to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid, swimming with the fishes, seeing brilliant coral reefs… Still do. So how can I resist something like Mermaid’s Dream? Highly recommend anyone else who loves the Little Mermaid to check out these polishes!

NAILS | AMAZING GRACE

Just got this in the mail the other day from Nail Polish Canada from their Deborah Lippmann Sale (here). They are having Deborah Lippmann polishes 40-70% off, it’s super rare to see these polishes on sale so snap some up while you can! I picked up Amazing Grace, a white cream polish, since my old white polish is wayyy too thick to use anymore. Not to mention, white nails will be perfect for the upcoming summer months, going with the white on white trend.
