NAILS | MERMAID SCALES

Last call for spring pastels before I bring out the neons and brights for the rest of summer! But let’s be real, I’ll wear pastels year round! Benefit of changing your manicure every week, you get to use any and every colour you want without getting bored!

Loved this mani for the week I had it and it was surprisingly long wearing considering I put it through a weekend of abuse at a cottage. Inspired by the Deborah Lippmann polish A Mermaid’s Dream, I thought it would be fitting to let the rest of the nails mimic the tails of mermaids. Also, I’ve always had this weird fascination with water ever since I was really young; The Little Mermaid was my favourite Disney movie, my grade school projects revolved around whales….I can’t go to any place without visiting the aquarium…the list just goes on and on and on. And now you also know my weird interest with water. And yes, I am a water sign, not that I’m a believe in astrology or anything. Just funny coincidences!

HOW TO:
Products used: Deborah Lippmann – A Mermaid’s Dream, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Breezy Blue & Lacey Lilac, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – 30, China Glaze – Re-fresh Mint and Revlon Nail Art in Tortoise Shell.

Surprise! – Love Revlon

Who doesn’t like surprises? I love them (the good ones, bad surprises I can do without). It was super nice to come home today and see this package. Did I forget I ordered something I thought to myself? Upon closer inspection I saw that there was a sticker on the side saying Revlon Selects. That got me excited and opening the box reviled Revlon’s Spring Runway Nail Sensations! Everyone already knows I’m obsessed with nail polish and  nail art so this surprise couldn’t be anymore perfect!

At first glance: The Revlon Chroma Chamelion (duo chrome polish) in Rose Gold looks like it could be a possible dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Swag Like Us (buy here). The Revlon ColorStay in Nude Biege seems like the perfect nude when held against my nails. And lastly the Revlon Nail Art 3D Jewel Appliques Wild Flowers in 04 Floral Fatale should be interesting, I’m not a big fan of hot pink but the cool design may change my mind. I’ve only used nail appliques once and they were alright, I can’t stand them when they start peeling but they look super pretty!
I’m super anxious to start using these products, Revlon you definitely know how to spoil a girl! I’ll post reviews in a few weeks and show the day to day wear of these products.

REVIEW | REVLON SELECTS

I’ve had these Revlon products for a while now from their Revlon Selects promo and after finally using them all, I have to say that I like the majority of them.

Eyeshadow PhotoReady palette in Metropolitan: love the neutral tones, the dark brown may look shimmery but it actually applies quite matte which I like. I originally thought that the primer in the pallette would be creamy kind of like my UD eyeshadow primer but its more of shimmery wash of colour to even out the skin tone, so I was slightly dissapointed by that but I loved all the colours. The only thing that was annoying was the glittery topcoat, because the primer wasnt sticky/creamy it had nothing to stick to and had a lot of fallout; but when paired with my UD primer it looked great.

Nail Expressionist nail art duo: love the dual ended thing going for it. I’m a HUGE fan of nail art and I love the thin brush applicator with the gold. I wish both the blue and gold were more pigmented so I didnt have to apply multiple coats.

Nail polish moon candy duo: The flaky top coat is okay, I have others from china glaze and essie which I prefer because the flakes are more evenly distrabuted and smaller. But this one does pair well with the matching polish. Looks great on top of black as well.

Diamond Nail file: LOVE IT! I’ve been meaning to get a new nail file for a while, and this worked great. Love the silver glitter (I like shiny sparkly things, so sue me :P)

Lipstick ColourStay Ultimate Suede: Love the dark colour, I’m not one to wear lipstick a lot so I use this more as a stain and apply is by dabbing the colour onto my lips for a light sheer application. I’ve been keeping this in my purse and grabbing for it a lot! It stays REALLY well as a stain, I don’t know about it being actual lipstick…I’ll have to test it out. I find that it does dry my lips a bit, but applying balm over top doesn’t smudge it and will keep your lips moisturized so it isn’t really a problem for me.

Overall: Products are pretty good, highlight of the package for me would be the introduction of the nail expressionist dual ends, I love that nail art is becoming more main stream! I’d most likely repurchase them in all the different colours and the lipstick. The palette, I may try in a different colour but I would prefer more matte colours.

If you’ve tried out these products, let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below!

NAILS | CONFETTI & BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Got a hot date or party this weekend? Confetti nail art is a good choice for fun and summery nails.

Nail art is the perfect accessory for your finger tips. It can add a bit of an edge, a pop of colour or just give your nails a little deserved attention.

This confetti nail art is super easy and all you need are an assortment of colourful nail polishes, dotting tool (you could just stick a pin into the back of a pencil, works the same), base coat and top coat. Super easy, just follow the steps after the break!

Cheers,
Charlie
